Dos and Don’ts for DIY Wedding Flowers

Are you planning for DIY  wedding flowers? It is something that many couples do for two reasons. One, they want to put their own stamp of on the wedding day. Two, they want to save some money while doing it as the cost of DIY wedding flowers is lesser when you compare it to professional florists.

Many of us might not be aware of the expenses related to wedding flowers. And the reason is obvious, for many of us the know-how may be limited to finding the right bouquet for presentation. Professional florists know how to best find the blooms, how to nurture them and how to use them for best results.

However, if you are willing to make the efforts on the wedding then DIY is meant for you.  But then there are certain things that you have to keep in mind:

Be Simple In Your Approach

Even if you have a wee bit ideas of floristry don’t assume that the things are going to be simple. You might have tried your hands on creating bouquet but they are nothing in comparison to wedding decorations. Rather than trying things on the wedding day you can keep the DIY blooms to simple, loose arrangements. Rather than thinking of ornate decoration with roses that may be best done by the professionals, you should be planning for potted bonsai and succulents.

You may stick to similar colors throughout than trying your hands on different kinds of floral arrangements.

Don’t Get Stuck To Certain Variants of Blooms

Just gone through a nice floral arrangement on Pinterest. Dreaming to get it DIY? It would be better if you don’t try your hands on it at least on the wedding day.

Find the seasonal blooms around your wedding. And it always better to go with them for D-day arrangement. But if you are not able to find the desired blooms even the seasonal ones, there is no need to get disheartened. You may easily find the alternatives that serve the purpose. So it always better to be flexible.

For those who are looking at specialty flowers or the blooms that are imported out of the season, or something that needs to be given shape to. or need to be wired, then it will be better if you go for professional hands than trying things on own.

Longevity and Clothes Matter!

There are floral items that you can create a day ahead of your wedding. Once the flowers are out, they fade faster than you might think. And once you are done with arrangements make sure that the berries, pollen or the flower petals don’t rub off that white dress and stain it beyond usage. So be careful when are moving around in the wedding dress.

Finally,

Don’t try to do everything on your own. It is always better to take help so you must seek it before starting and weigh your options keeping in mind the costs of DIY wedding flowers.
